Sculpting new teams

Post by atomico »

Hello I'm a sculptor and I'm currently launching a Dwarf "Fantasy Football" Team. This is the first of many teams that I have planned to sculpt in the near future. As everyone knows to do a project like this takes dedication, hard work and support of the gaming community. Plans are to expand more models beyond the core team, such support staff, veteran star players, and up the rabid fans cheering the team on. With the support of the bb community, I'll be able to better serve needs of the community. Please let me know which race you wish to see sculpted next. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/62 ... miniatures

Photo uses 20mm bases, correct? That's the impression from other photo in the KS page. It makes the dwarfs look huge then, and some people avoid scale creep. It also gives the idea detail is worse than reality, as they are 80% size (20/25) of what they look at first glance.

Thank you for the post. Knowing the impression my projects give is important to me, that way I can better adjust and improve. The bases are 24mm. They stand at shoulder height to most gw models and were sculpted to the average dwarf height of reaper models. I try to find the middle ground when sizing the models to current popular miniature lines, that way they can fit into gamers current collections.

24mm? In that image they look smaller. What an optical illusion then.

Thank you for pointing out the camera distortion on the base sizes. I took a new picture. I appreciate it, because that may have been a question in other peoples minds as well. Thanks.

Yeah, my dwarfs have knees, it always bugged me to see dwarfs with stumps growing out their stomachs.

I don't need a dwarf team... saying that I like the style of their faces. it doesn't match any of my teams, but still it is a fun style and would look good as a choice on a number of teams.

Incidentally if it doesn't fund consider trying to join Galaks mega team kickstarter :)

If you cannot stall out for an 8 turn drive to score with dwarves then you need to go and play canasta with your dad..if you can find him.

Now he likes dwarves. I'm so confuddled...

@atomico: I really like the models, but I'm not in the market for a dwarf team at the moment sadly. Would love for you to continue sculpting though. I'd love to see your take on a Necromantic, Lizardmen or Dark Elf team.

Good luck with the campaign!

The sculpts are good. The team remains dull to the point of pointlessness and is only played by automotons who need a crutch to play. Is that better?

Thanks for positive feedback. It's an incredible amount of work, but its worth the effort knowing that someone will be enjoying many games with these models. Hopefully the momentum keeps going where I can work on every team and race possible. Thanks again.

If I didnt already have a dwarf team, I'd go for this one.

That being said: I can see the linemen and bezerkers, but I cant see the difference between the blitzers and the runners.
And, perhaps, maybe add a deathroller. Beware scale creep there though. And if you ARE going to do a DR and some kind of funding, add a 'prone' counter for it (and include a reroll/turn counter while you are at it). :)

Have to say I hate dwarves being in BB, but these minis look good. Cute even. I say we adopt them as the official dwarf ideal and set about re-writing that tradegy of a roster!

Just do a normal and prone deathroller and add a pledge level for it :)

I find the look highly ordinary and mediochre. :-?

If you feel the need to add yet another dwarf team to the pool, please do something more original. :|
