What's your painting set up like? What's the environment in which your creations come to life?

Behold mine; a small corner of the coffee table I hunch over. No order to it at all.

Currently you're looking at the dwarf team I'll be taking to the world cup, a few classic orc miniatures and a sneaky new skaven team in the works at the top left of the image.

I used to keep everything in boxes and drag it out whenever the mood took me to paint. But I found that both cut into my hobby time and my wife's tolerance of all my crap. So when we moved into our new house I converted a deep built in wardrobe in our snug into a painting desk and hobby cupboard. Works a treat - when Im done with painting I can just push the chair in and shut the doors, and the room goes back to normal use without all my stuff cluttering the space.

It was actually pretty cheap to do, too. If you work with offcuts the total wood cost about $40 (including a shelf already there when we bought it) for the main desk and shelving, and then I've used a couple of flatpack $10 bookshelves for the sides. Just make sure you have a stud finder...!

Since space is limited in our apartment my hobby station is placed in the living room. I use a small paint station that is easy to carry away if the table is needed for dinner. I store most of my stuff somewhere else but the paint station has enough space for one project. Here you are looking at my WIP high elf team for the world cup. I really like working in the living room because I am at least in the same room as my cheerleader

my paint station is from a company in Poland named Hobby Zone http://www.hobbyzone.pl/en/

It is made from 5mm to 10mm thick cardboard-like material (don't know the proper English word). But it is really stable and nice to work on. You only have to be careful with water... I like it though

My drawing table has been mostly dominated by miniatures for a while.
