Blood Bowl Scoreboard

Post by rolo »

Hi all,

I love my new World Cup field, but the only downside is that there's no score track. And occasionally I play teams other than Khemri and Dwarves, so I sometimes need to keep track ;)

And I do need one. First of all because it's fun to actually mark down when you score a touchdown. Second because there have been games where both I and my opponent have drunk maybe a little bit too much, and I need some kind of reference.

So my plan is maybe a 2" by 3" board, painted to look like faded wood, a series of "wooden" planks with numbers 0 to 4 or so. I want to put magnets in both the scoreboard and the score tokens, and if I'm feeling particularly ambitious, several more magnetic plates which I can swap out with my various team logos.

I'm looking for something like this:

Maybe a little bit neater and less orky. Like this, but without down and distance:

I'll also magnetize the back of the board (where I can keep the extra tokens) and maybe a coaching area in front. Or at least a few babes or goblins or something as scoreboard operators. I just don't want to make it too large, this is going to travel a lot and it has to be robust, practical, and small enough to fit in a carrying case.

Before I start, I was thinking I'd ask around and see if I could collect advice. My main questions are:
- Does anyone know of a manufacturer who sells model wooden planks or a raft or something? I don't care if it's real wood or not.
I will use popsicle sticks if needed.

- Any advice on magnets? I have a few of the small round 2x2mm neodymium magnets sitting around, but I've also seen a bendable magnetic sheet which can be cut to size.

I am currently making one using wooden coffee stirring sticks. They make great planks and are available just about anywhere there is coffee.

I can absolutely recommend the wooden coffee stirring sticks! Used them for my scoring board as well. I also used magnetic tape. Google it, you sure will find something. It's flat and can be cut to the required length.
Have a look here on how I did it.

And feel free to ask, I can tell you a lot of mistakes to avoid :smoking:
