Has anyone ever produced any waterslide transfers / decals with the NAF logo on?

Would be very useful to add to the odd miniature or two?

I know you can get decal paper which works with most printers:

I've never used that before though, so I don't know if it works on models.

I've found that decals are often shinier than painted models and it's easy to see where they've been used.

I know that there are companies who can make them for you, but at the moment I am at a loss who they were/are.

Way back in time, I bought this decal paper.
Printing worked just fine, although you gotta be careful: There is decal paper for laser and for ink jets.
You also need to put some varnish on it to protect the print.

Also, they advised to buy some mystery liquid to soften the decal to make it easier to bring it to non-flat surfaces.

All in all, with the use of a matt varnish, itlooked okay.
But I would not recommend to use it for models in great numbers.

Miniature shops should have one or more brands of decal liquids. Micro Set and Micro Sol are the classics. Vallejo has Decal Medium and Decal Fix.

Also, apply gloss varnish first where you want the decal. It helps with the positioning and the edge, even if you use the "magic" liquids. Apply more gloss after, to seal the zone. Later you can apply the varnish type you want to all the model.

Does the trick. The only issue is you have to think of enough stuff to fill an A4 sheet otherwise you are wasting paper.

And make sure you print on paper first to check the scale.
Nothing is more frustrating than ruining a sheet because you went too small or too big!

Just remember to paint the area under the decal white if you want part if the decal to be white. printers don't print in white so the white bits just print as clear. Sounds obvious I know but it was the very first mistake I made. The next thing I did was to buy some decal softening stuff (this http://www.microscale.com/Merchant2/mer ... _Code=MI-2) which was really useful to get the decals to wrap around curves better.

I managed to buy the decal paper in an artists supplies shop and the micro sol in a model shop.

But white background would make it necessary to cut the decals out very neatly.
This is absolutely impossible to achive with rather complicated designs.

even with simple shapes it gets very fiddly.

My other half ordered custom decals for her fingernails from an online company (Can't remember the details off-hand). Didn't look at them too closely at the time, but I did wonder if they would work for minis.
