Team progression moved to 16 from 11 etc

Post by noodle »

Just a quick question...

WHY was the progression table moved from 11 SPPs to 16 and 26 to 31?

I never really understood this because it just made linemen less likely to get their second skill (especially for dwarfs etc as they can't get those completions ;))

I have been unable to implement this in the ABBL at the moment (not least because of the existing teams who would suddenly lose skills!) so we are sticking with the old table...

Thats all - just curious... :D

AFAIK just to slow it down and ensure that you needed to be better than 2 MVPs plus an odd casualty to get the 2nd skill.

Ah that is true - but it means we can't really backdate these changes until we start a new league with new teams - which could be ages....

Also I noticed a dip in performance at TR 130-140 with these rules as you are paying more SPPs for less skills....

I quite liked the old geometric progression...

Not a major gripe just phenomenally hard to put into our league.... (and forgetful at tournies which have an SPP component)

I think it is fine... I can see the problems regarding existing teams, but the we've done it is to say that you don't lose any skills, it will just be longer before you aquire new ones.. Ie, a player from the old system with, say, 12 SPP has gotten 2 skills.. converted to the new system, he simply does not improve again until he's at 31 SPP. True, that will lead to a minor imbalance against new teams, but opposed to not starting new teams at all, I think it's worth it...
