Ok we have a Hail Marry pass thrown in the dieing seconds of the game it is caught by a artistic diving catch... he's in the endzone... he SCORES !!!

YES that was the game winner, but of course no SPP. Why should something exeptionally cool be rewarded with SPP ?

Why SPP at all ?

Why not simply playing chess where all models are the same every game ?

No way! Throws only get SPPs if you get the throw to a player to catch it- with chucking a player this isn't a problem, so the chance of success is ridiculously high. Consider the chance of an ogre chucking a halfling- it will be successful as long as the halfling makes an agility roll. Whereas making an actual pass of the ball to a halfling with an ogre is a much more difficult prospect. Which is the whole point of ogres having a high strength and pants agility- they get SPPs by beating people up, not passing.

I suggest that as long as the thrown player ends up in the square aimed at (even if it misses and scatters there) AND the landing is successful AND the ball is being carried then the thrower gets an SPP, getting exactly the same odds as throwing the ball. The lack of benefits from skills like diving catch is more than made up for by the immunity to interceptions. And the dangers of injuries to goblins and halflings is more than made up for by the chance for one turn touchdowns.

You get 3 SPP for the touchdown, and you win the game, giving you a +1 in the win column, a +1 for income, and a +1 for your fan factor roll, and the personal satisfaction of pulling off a last-minute play.

On the other side of your argument, there's the question "Why not give SPP for everything? My guy moved without falling flat on his face, that's pretty cool, SPPs for everybody!"...

If we all had a penny for every time we inhaled without choking, pennys would be worth even less than they are now...
