pass block

Post by Wallace »

Say you need to move the full 3 squares to keep a TZ on the thrower with a passblock move. Now, to move those three sqaures you need to make 2 dodge rolls. Your passblocker has dodge, so you give it a try. You fail first dodge but successfully re-roll. Do you now have a choice to not attempt the second dodge? If you don't, then you have appeared to make an illegal pass block move, as your not putting a TZ on the thrower (or being able to intercept). If you don't try to make the second dodge, do you have to move back to the original sqaure, or are you forced to attempt the second dodge???

That's an excellent question. I'd say you're forced to do what it takes to put the TZ on the guy.

Hey, at least it's not a turnover.

but seriously, I'd say you have to make an honest attempt to put the tackle zone on the thrower---you knew the possibilities before even attempting the first dodge. If he also had standfirm and failed the 2nd dodge attempt I'd say he gets to stay standing in the last failed dodge square.

I agree, you can't decide to abort the passblock partway thru. otherwise it would be an illegal passblock (unless, of course, the square that he would stop moving in is still a legal finishing square and lands him either in the catcher's TZ or in line for an interception). Essentially, whatever you have to do in order to fulfill the requirements of legally using passblock in the first place.
