Accidentily catching,...

Post by Cooper »

Ok,...i blitz the carrier,...he goes down, and bounces the ball into the hands of someone i dont want to,...i catch.

Can i use a rr to try and fail the catch? And if i succeed in not catching it, can i continue with my turn?

you can use a TRR for that reroll, but you can't use the Catch skill to try and fail a roll. The wording explicitly states that you can use the skill only when you FAIL a catch roll - just thought I'd mention it in case it ever lands on a player of yours with the Skill and tried to use it :) TRR's only when trying to fail something

Cooper hasn't seen the game file yet.

But my Catcher caught the ball after a inaccurate pass after the 4 bounce.

The bounce after the ball hits the pitch and scatters.

Used the Catch skill wich I am sure is OK. But is it a Turnover ??

I know you can catch a inaccurate pass and continue but is it still true after the final "bounce" scatter ??

Yup ...no turnover ... when the ball came to rest a player from your team had it ... thus ... no turnover.

Actually, would the Catch skill be used here? The ball has already hit the ground and bounced into the player's zone; it's not a pass, hand-off or an interception attempt.

Not sure which skill would be appropriate. Sure Hands? I guess you would be picking the ball up from the ground after it bounces to your feet.

Catch is when the ball moves into your player, ie bounces.
Sure hands is when your player moves into the ball.

Okay.
However where does it actually say that in the rules though? Under the Catch skill it says "A player who has the Catch skill is allowed to re-roll the D6 if he fails to catch the ball. It also allows the player to re-roll the D6 if he drops a hand-off or fails to make an interception."

I put in the bold for emphasis. It doesn't say anything about bounces, unless it says elsewhere in the rulebook that bounces are equivalent to catch attempts.

I'm not doubting you but it's just something that I would like to be clarified so if the ruling is that the Catch skill could be used for bounces, could this be added in the newest version of the Rulebook?

Thanks!

Pg 14. Bouncing Balls
....If the ball bounces into an occupied square, then the player
in the square must attempt to catch it, as described above.

Ah okay, thanks!

However I still think that the Catch skill should be updated to include bouncing balls for ease.
