Question about Assist

Post by Iyadalak »

Code: Select all

#1

. A . . .
. . a . .
. . B . .
B blocks a, does he get an assist from A?

Code: Select all

#2

. A . . .
. . a . .
. B . C .
B blocks a, does he get assist from A and C?

Code: Select all

#3

. A . . .
. . a . .
. B C . .
B blocks a, C may assist, but can he get assist from A?

I ask this because some people in my gameclub use the assist rule different.
Like in #3, some say A may assist, because he's in the tackle zone of a and nobody can stop him. But other say he can't, because he's too far away from the blocker (B). Only C may assist, because he's next to the Blocker B.

This is kinda confusing me and the rulebook doesn't help me that much ^^

Yes, yes and yes.

Assuming A and C are teammates of B. If they're meant to be teammates of b, then only in the 3rd example can C assist.

The "check", if you will, for assists always involves looking at the opposite player involved in the block and asking, "do I have one of my players in the tackle zone ONLY of the opposing player" if so, then you may assist!

Snotlings are trying to take down an opposing troll who is grossly out of position and surrounded by only by snotlings. Snotling "S" makes the block:

**sSs**
**sTs**
**sss**

In this extreme instance, there are eight isolated snotlings on the isolated troll. That's 1 St plus 7 assists (8 St) vs 5 St: 2 dice, snotlings' choice!

Goblins to the rescue!

One uninvolved (not one of the two players involved in the block/blitz action) player can negate all assists that he is in the tackle zone of:

**sSs**
*gsTsg*
**sss**

in this case, two gobbos have negated the assists of the 6 snotlings to the left and right of the troll! Now the snotling "S" would be ill-advised to take the block since it would only be him and one mate (1 St + 1 assist) vs the Troll's 5 St: 3 dice block Troll player chooses!!!

Hope that helps.
