Hello Galak,

Very nice to hear from you again after such a long time. I understand from what I've managed to read over the past couple of days that you have contributed a massive effort into getting LRB5 up and running while I have been away from BB, so may I pass on the gratitude of our little league here in Canterbury UK.

Myself and four others are dusting off our teams in preparation for our new league (although I had to go and buy a couple of D. Elf 2nd ed. catchers on ebay the other day to make up the roster - will be playing them as a pro-elf team as I didn't want to drop my two D. Elf thrower minis from my line-up!)

I've not had a chance to see how the dropping of traits has affected things yet, so I honestly don't know how much mileage there is in Darkson's opinion or your own on that side of things. I'm sure I will be able to get back to you on that one in time. However, spotting Leader over in the passing section did rekindle an old idea in my mind from years ago when I was wondering if it might have been possible to have a 'psychological' skills category, where all the 'non-physical' skills, such as dauntless, frenzy, pro, leader, nerves of skill, etc. could happily reside together. But then again, if it ain't broke... :)

'Nowt wrong with a bit of healthy sarcasm! ;) With regard to our (what is feeling somewhat comical now) collective confusion over the dodge skill, I was initially scanning through the document and happened across the 'defender stumbles' term, which immediately caught my attention, which then caused me to read further and ask my friends and wife to take a look too. It is probable that if we had then read the block skill blurb thoroughly too before consulting you fellows on here then we may well have been similarly perplexed (or it may have speeded our journey towards the correct conclusion - who knows?) But we got a bit fixated on dodge, and as it stands now we have plenty still to digest over the next few days. Hoping to get some games going by next weekend.

Anyway, enough of wording woes. What has the overall reaction been to the new tome as far as you can gauge? Has the feedback been good so far? Are you yourself happy with all the elements of the final product?

John :) (considering ways of rebuilding my poor old pitch)

More good than bad.

ALL ... no. 98% ... YES.

I take it you two guys have been butting heads somewhat on certain game developments then? Understatement on my part?

It takes a while to acclimatize to peoples' views on things when you have been away for a while... I'm sure the various camps and polarities will become clear with time...

:)

My take at this time. If 70% of the Death Bowl voted to go LRB 5.0 which should have been one of the biggest spots on the tournament scene to hang on to LRB 4.0 with CH banging the LRB 5.0 will destroy tournament BB drum continously for the last year and half ... I'm happy with the new ruleset.

Darkson's league uses some of LRB 5.0 but not all. Should be noted that Darkson and Darkson's league mates have been seen at LRB 5.0 tournaments as well. So yes there are folks that don't like it. However, I'd say that at this point it is not much more than the folks that will also be on the other side of a major change of anything. Nothing can ever please everyone.

As a league ruleset, the LRB5 sets out to do exactly what it was designed to do, and does it well.
Unfortunately, imo the initial design brief was complete BS, so therefore imo it's a bad ruleset.

That said, for tourneys (which is my main ftf BB these days) it's not to different from LRB4 to live with.

But yeah, me and Galak have butted heads over a few things over the last 2 years or so (in a good natured way).
