Discuss Fantasy football-style board games - GW's Blood Bowl, Impact!'s Elfball, Privateer Press' Grind, Heresy's Deathball, etc. THIS IS NOT AN NFL FANTASY FOOTBALL SITE!
Don't understand a particular rule or just need to clarify something? This is the forum for you. With 2 of the BBRC members and the main LRB5/6 writer present at TFF, you're bound to get as good an answer as possible.
No more argueing the call of the ref anymore in LRB5? Or did I miss it?
Thx

All dwarfs are by nature dutiful, serious, literate, obedient and thoughtful people whose only minor failing is a tendency, after one drink, to rush at enemies screaming "Arrrrrrgh!" and axing their legs off at the knee. (TP)
If you want to add Argue the Call back in ... best way we found to do it and still have it be balanced would be:
Argue the Call:
Whenever a player is ejected from the game for fouling you may argue the call with your head coach. You may not Argue the Call if you are using a Bribe inducement. To argue the call, roll a D6. On a 1, the referee decides to teach the coach a lesson in minding his own business. The fouling player is still ejected and one random player that assisted the foul (if there are any) is also ejected for the match. On a 2-5, nothing happens. On a 6, the Referee agrees to let the player off with a warning by sitting in the dugout for the rest of the drive. Place the fouling player in the Reserves box.

This rule if I truely had magic powers that some suggested I did would have been part of the LRB 5.0 ... but JJ was firm on not allowing Argue the Call into the rules as it was in his opinion unnecessary clutter (same for IGMEOY). I can see his point ... and to be honest ... most tabletop games I've played ... my opponent always seemed to forgot to argue the call anyway ... so I see part of JJ's point. However, if you really like being able to Argue the Call consider the above as a solid house rule to add it back in and have it still be balanced with LRB 5.0.
The reason for the new rule ... if you use the LRB 4.0 version... you basically just have a 1 in 6 chance of using something like Mercs with DP to more abuse without any real downside. To be a balanced part of LRB 5.0... Argue the Call needs to be balanced inside itself and not just a way to reduce the penalities of fouling.

If that was our only option, JJ was right. Yep, I said it.
