How many passes and hand offs allowed?

Post by BobbyDavro »

Could someone just clear this up for me please, as it came up in my last game. Is a team allowed one hand off and one pass per team turn? or is it one or the other?

I was trying for a second hand off for a glorious touch down, but my opponent correctly, I think, pointed out that only one hand off is allowed. However we could see nothing against also doing a one square pass (which I fumbled needless to say).

One Handoff and one pass allowed each turn.

You can definitely do a 1 square pass though.

Thanks,
I just found the answer in the GW forum, so if anyone else is interested, here is a more complete answer:

picking up the ball is considered a "free action". the following are exclusive actions, only one may be performed by a player:

block
blitz
pass (ball or teammate)
handoff
foul

and all except the first may only be performed once each turn by one player only. note that moving is not included because it can be used in conjunction w/ all other actions except a block.

Yeah you can do a one-square Pass; it just doesn't get the "Automatically Accurate" benefit of a Handoff.

But unlike a handoff it can earn the thrower SPPs on completion.

The short answer is "no", but it is a qualified "no" because there are odd ways of interpreting the question which could justify the answer "yes".
