Sequence of events for Touch-Back

Just wondering about the sequence in which a touch-back works witht he Kick off result. Is it;

1)
* Ball scatters out of touch at kick off.
* Kick-off result rolled and enacted apon.
* Ball handed to one of the receiving team players.
* Game continues.

OR

2)
* Ball scatters out of touch at kick off.
* Ball handed to one of the receiving team players.
* Kick-off result rolled and enacted apon.
* Game continues.

Page 18 LRB 5 says
• Place the ball on the pitch
• Scatter ball to determine where the ball is about to land
• Roll on the Kick-Off table
• Resolve the Kick-Off table result
• Bounce/ catch/or touchback the ball

So even if it Scatters off the Pitch, you do got around to the Touchback until after the KO is resolved.
