Diving Tackle and Dodge Interactions
The Human Catcher is ag 3 and needs to roll a 4 up to dodge into the 1 tackle zone.
He rolls a 5.
The opposing blitzer with diving tackle uses diving tackle giving the roll a -2 modifier.
The dodge would fail with a 3 after the DT modifier.
He uses the dodge skill to reroll the dodge roll.
Does he now need a:
4 up because the DT modifier does not apply to the reroll?
3 up because he is no longer dodging into a tackle zone because the blitzer is prone?
6 up because he the dodge roll was into a tackle zone and diving tackle was used?
When I read the rules I assume it's a six up, but experienced and respected players have told me all different results from this.
I play a slann team so this information is really important to my stratagy.

Re: Diving Tackle and Dodge Interactions
a quick search on diving tackle would give you the answer straight away:
viewtopic.php?f=10&t=31395&p=557673&hil ... le#p557673
So to answer your question it's a REROLL for the dodge, not a new action, all parameters apply, and therefore the -2 is still in effect: 6+
Also the diving tackler is NOT prone until the dodge is actually resolved. It's important to read all the bits in the rule.

the -1 zone applies because the DT player is not placed prone until after the dodge is resolved (if used)

I read all the bits, and it's the conclusion I came up with also. It was just a debate with a person who is running a league I am playing in.Greyhound wrote:a quick search on diving tackle would give you the answer straight away:

Re: Diving Tackle and Dodge Interactions
if he runs the league he might use his own house rules.
Simply ask him why he assumes that the diving tackle doesn't apply when you re-roll

Re: Diving Tackle and Dodge Interactions
any modifiers that apply to the first roll apply to the reroll
there are lots of threads on this that will give you the same answer ;]
