Leaping onto the ball
I read it as landing on the ball, causing it to bounce once.
Someone told it me is was voluntarily entering the square triggering a pick up attempt.
Rules clarification?

Re: Leaping onto the ball
it's clear (to me) in the rules:
So the only time it would bounce is when you haven't moved voluntarily in the square, which is not the case for a leap. Leaping uses the same rule as movement, except that it ignores tackle zones.PICKING UP THE BALL
If a player moves into a square in which the ball is lying, they
must attempt to pick it up, and – if they wish and are able – carry
on moving.
Players that move into the square with the ball at other times
(e.g., when pushed back, thrown by another player with Throw
Team-Mate, etc.) cannot pick up the ball, and instead it will
bounce one square. This does not cause a turnover. See
Bouncing Balls on page 13.

Yes.Grumbledook wrote:just to confirm, you do have to try and pick it up
If your player enters a square that contains the ball, or the ball enters a square containing your player, you must try to pick it up.
If your player is prone, it just scatters.

Re: Leaping onto the ball
your player can enter a square via a pushback while being standing, then it scatters
also if the ball goes onto a square with your player in you are forced to try and catch it not pick it up

Re: Leaping onto the ball
you can use catch skill as you must attempt to catch the bouncing ball (you can also choose not to use the catch skill)
