3 dice blocks?

Post by maximu160490 »

Hey guys,

Quick question as my luck is awful with this. Everytime i roll a 3dice block i either get combo of skulls or push - never send defender down - this has happened on about the last 3 or four 3 dicers.

therefore my question is "do you HAVE to roll the 3 dice when you are more than double the strength or can you just roll the two?"

opinions would be appreciated

not an answer, (although if you want that the unofficial response I would give is No, you have to roll 3 dice).

Why would you not want to roll the 3rd dice?

I don't understand how the option of the 3rd dice is a bad thing

I agree with voyagers_uk, why would you not want to roll those 3 dice? Blood bowls a game of chance and probability, so why do you not want a 3rd option on your blocks?

no, you don't, but you can't rely on small numbers to build statistics.

try to roll three dice one or two hundred times, and record how many flashes you get. Maybe you'll change your mind.

you have to roll the 3 dice. The number of dice you throw is dependent on the str difference and not on who is throwing the blocks....if you could choose to not roll some of the dice, your halfling could block a Treeman and roll just one die!

Well, just for psychologies sake (do not know if it is written correctly), throw the two dice first and roll the third dice separtly just to show you how much of the times the third dice rescues you from a turn over.

Aren't assists optional.
That would mean that in most situations you can roll 2d if you're that nuts.

It's not specifically listed as optional, but the bolded but below is probably the best next thing:
After a block has been declared, the extra team players of the
attacker and the defender give an ‘assist’. This allows two or
more attackers to gang up on a single defender, or for one or
more defenders to aid a companion against a block. Each of
these extra players adds +1 to the Strength of the player that
they are assisting. Assisting a block does not count as an Action,
and a player can assist any number of blocks per turn. A player
is allowed to make an assist even if he has moved or taken an
Action.
The attacking coach must declare if any of his players will give
an assist first, then the defending coach must add defensive
assists with players from his team.
In order to make an assist,
the player:
1. Must be adjacent to the enemy player involved in the block,
and...
2. Must not be in the tackle zone of any other player from the
opposing team, and ...
3. Must be standing, and …
4. Must have his tackle zones.

Aissist are totally optional

as per the above quote
The attacking coach must declare if any of his players will give
an assist first, then the defending coach must add defensive
assists with players from his team.
must declare if ....

that is optional not mandatory

And can I choose to roll for GFIs whenever I go over the touchdown line, even if I don't need to?

Seriously, why?

no, unless you are out of normal movement

page 20 of the rulebook under GFI
he may choose to GFI 1 or 2 squares over and above the number of normal squares he is allowed
