Rule Books
Can we have consensus on this.
I mean LRB 1? AFAIK this actually means LRB4! It sounds all so much Star Wars on this.
I have seen 6 editions of the rules, without the point five editions and Kerrunch etc there have been 6 rules sets.
Card Board counter Blood Bowl (the Brett Ewins box) released in 1986. Similar to the then Warhammer rules with a limited miniture range. This was 'LRB 1'.
In 1988 there was the polystyrene pitch, bigger range of figures and the cumbersome rules. This Second Edition was 'LRB 2'.
Kerrunch simplified the rules
Then we got the format that we enjoy now with the Third Edition or 'LRB 3' in 1994.
Building on the success of the 3e, the Fourth had been produced in the BB Mag 1 and shoved in the new boxes of the game. Now here's the confusion, this is the 4th set of rules but sometimes considered LRB 1.
A Gold version of the Fourth was produced aka a 4.5 ed (or for the sake of arguement LRB 2)
I've played the game since the 3e and have noticed that the 5th Edition was good and it was called LRB 5. Now it can only be the fifth if we are counting from 1986.
Likewise after LRB 5 there was the CRP rules aka LRB 6.
Therefore the rules set in the current box is LRB 4 not 1 and hence this sounds like Star Wars.

Re: Rule Books
The LRBs and the Ed.'s are not the same thing.
AFAIK it goes:
1st ed.,2nd ed., 3rd ed., Gold?, LRB1-5, CRP (LRB6)
Don't remember if a few of the LRBs were before Gold. BTW, Gold was the one that tanked and went away.

I've played the game from 1995. Seen the 3e... bought the mags, all 3 compediums and the mags 1-12. Remember 4the ed or LRB '1'.
Problem I have is this:
Got LRB 1
Got LRB 5
Got LRB 6 aka CRP.
So WTF was LRB 2-4?
Actually I may have LRB 4 on my computer but that looks a lot like 'LRB 1'.
So from 3rd ed we moved to LRB '1' AFAIK that was a PDF, in the mags and stuffed into the current rules box with Thrud Star Player in it.

Re: Rule Books
3rd edition.
4th edition "Gold" (subsequently made "experimental by JJ, then dropped in favour of the BBRC, who met to produce...)
LRB1
LRB2
LRB3
LRB4 (1-4 were minor changes year on year after BBRC meetings, yearly iirc)
LRB5 (big change from LRB4 to 5)
LRB6/|CRP
In that order.
LRB1 was NOT 4th Gold.

If you want older versions that you missed (LRB 1-4) see: viewtopic.php?f=29&t=30406

Re: Rule Books
Where could one find a copy of the infamous 4e Gold (the rules that were going to break BB). [edit] I think this will be in the valentsigma post referenced above, though I need to check it. The second question below stands]
And are these the same as the rules that JJ abandoned (and were never talked about)?

Re: Rule Books
4th and 4th Gold are the official editions that Jervis retracted and said where only experimental in a later BB magazine.

Re: Rule Books
I remember some of the earlier editons of the LRB going by the Name PBBL (Perpetual Blood Bowl League?) on some if the hard copies I had.
I'm not sure adding another name in there will help with clarity or not?!?

Re: Rule Books
LRB 5.0 was the first edition to have the PBBL title as it was the theme the rules where now based on.Loki wrote:I remember some of the earlier editons of the LRB going by the Name PBBL (Perpetual Blood Bowl League?) on some if the hard copies I had.

Re: Rule Books
There were playtesting versions kicking about (0.1-1.11), but they were never "official" rules, just WIP towards LRB5.
