Some rules clarifications

Post by Marcus »

Some of these are blindingly obvious but are hamstring by the fact I don't have my rulebooks with me. Others are clarifications of rules I'm not sure have been clarified:

Catching turnovers: My understanding is a failed catch roll is not a turnover unless the failed catch results in a loss of possession for the moving team.
eg1: A player passes the ball, it's inaccurate, hits the ground, bounces into the crowd, is thrown in, bounces off the head of an opposition blackorc, goes into orbit, does 3 laps of the earth and lands in the hands of the moving team's ogre. This is not a turnover
eg1: A blitzer blitzes an enemy ball carrier, he uses strip ball and knocks the ball loose, the ball scatters into his hands, he fails the catch roll and the ball ends up on the ground, this is not a turnover

Serious Injuries: The type of serious injury (stat loss, niggle etc) is determined at the end of the match or when the injury is inflicted? Can you wait to see the type of injury before using an apothecary?

Hail Mary Pass: Can HMP be used in a blizzard?

I know these are mostly obvious but I just wanted to confirm.

Cheers
Marcus

I normally get these right so here goes ... I'm sure Acerak will nail anything I'm misguided on.

Both of your catch examples are 100% correct.

You can wait to see the type of Serious Injury before using your apothecary, and the SI roll is made immediately not at the end of the game.

You may not HMP during a blizzard.

There's some controversy on this one... but the current ruling is that is isn't a turn over.

The rest of them are as you suggest.

By "controversy" John means some folks don't agree with it. If you read page 13 of the Handbook you'll see it's not a turnover unless the ball is passed and not ultimately caught by a member of the moving team.

You roll for SI results right away. Actually, the opposing coach does.

About HMP in a Blizzard...house rule time! :)
