The way of distribute and sell the official rules

Post by Trambi »

I have bought the annual Saturday in Dublin. And it doesn't seem very professionnal. :( But it content is cool. :)
Moreover the fact of selling the BB box without the corrections and change in the rule books is very unpratical : in two years, to play BB with the official rules you will need BB rulebook, Deathzone, Annual 2002,2003,2004 :o it is not very easy.
It don't think a good choice.
For the internet, it is good solution. But if these rules are really official, what is the point to sell the BB box with non official rulebooks and only 4 sheet document to explain the new official rules.

I guess they should integrate it all in a single, quite big, rulebook ... as they sold in Spain. I've got a 3rd edition box set, including Basic BB rules plus Death Zone (as a different section in the same Manual)

The new rules should be included, and old ones updated in the same place they were ... or maybe, a little bit of re-distribution would come handy ('cos the rulebook is quite a mess sometimes!)

So i have voted for including it in the new boxed sets, plus selling a one-book-manual including the three we have now (extra cash for those like you and me who are not going to buy another boxed set, but even thou we can download a pdf version, would like to have it all in just one book)
Yeah .. ONE BOOK TO RULE THEM ALL ... you know how it goes ..

without a doubt the official rules should be included in one book and replace the 2 rule books in the box set. Then the rule book should also be sold seperately so player with an old box can update their copy to the official rules.

There is an all in one rulebook (to be included in the box set, and I expect popular demand will see it available separately soon enough) in the pipeline, and all you'll need is the rulebook and the current annual with the yearly rules review.
So next year you'll need the rulebook and just the 2003 annual etc..
Hell, the whole current ruleset will be available to download for free soon enough, with a yearly update. What more could you ask for? :D

The downloadable rule set will be great for all of us that already have BB + Deathzone. And it makes sene to have all the rules in one updated book to go in the box sets. The previous solution to slip in a piece of paper with the rules changes was poor IMO, but I can understand that GW had a whole lot of boxes with rule books they wanted to get rid of before they could justify a new printing.
I would buy an updated rule book if it was for sale.

Didn't JJ comment in a Fanatic newsletter about the effort required to get DZ back into print when it was in demand and unavailable? I guess after going to the trouble of getting both rulebooks available, we'll just have to wait until the stock has shifted.
After all everything you need to play the current ruleset is included in the box, unless you want to play Norse, Amazon or Lizardmen, and those rosters are available on the GW website as well as the annual.
I really don't see any problem, it's just a question of patience.
