3rd post actually (some probably has pointed this out already).

most of the discussion is 'can I choose not to use DP?"

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

I had a situation come up in a match last night where I nearly chose not to use disturbing presence. A Woodelf blitzed my Berserker with the ball, knocked him down and ended up catching the scatter. Nearby Snow Troll's disturbing presence would make him fail the catch, but seeing as he'd blitzed, it could have been to my advantage to have him stuck with the ball rather than able to move it. In the end I kept disturbing presence on had him drop it though, as no other elves could get to it without dodges through a bunch of tackle zones.

Disturbing Presence doesn't affect pick ups. Just passes, catches and interceptions. Bouncing balls aren't catches, I don't think. Am I wrong?

Afraid so. From LRB5, pg13:
If the ball bounces into an occupied square, then the player in the square must attempt to catch it, as described above.

Easiest way to remember it: If you enter the ball's square, it's a pick up attempt. If the ball enters your square, it's a catch attempt.

Unless you're pushed into the square, of course.

oops, I should have said voluntarily enter the ball's square. If you involuntarily enter the ball's square (as a result of a push, or if you land on the ball when you are scattered as a result of a Throw Team Mate) you get no chance!
