Re: leaving a square
Yes, diving tackle is leaving a square. However, ussually the diving tackler is not taking an ACTION, meaning it wouldn't normally be able to be shadowed.
No, being placed prone while holding the ball is NOT a turnover.

Re: leaving a square
if it is your turn it is a turnover
Being Knocked Down is a turnover (have the ball or not)
Being placed prone whilst holding the ball
Being placed prone while holding the ball IS a turnover as per rule 1 Turnovers pg 7Wylder wrote:Yes, diving tackle is leaving a square. However, ussually the diving tackler is not taking an ACTION, meaning it wouldn't normally be able to be shadowed.

so:Turnovers #1 pg 7 "A player on the moving team is knocked down (being injured by the crowd or being placed prone is not a turnover unless it is a player from the active team holding the ball. e.g. skills like DT, PO, & W count as baing placed prone)"

Re: leaving a square
I think I concur with Ullis and Daloonieshaman on this. Placing Prone of a player on the moving team is a turnover if he has the ball. Then it bounces per bounce rules.
I think it would be logical to assume that this would be a one and perhaps the only way to interrupt the pass sequence after declaring the throw and measuring the pass range. So the implication would be that a turnover occurring in response to any part of the pass sequence would interrupt and cancel the rest of the pass sequence. In LRB6 this should also mean that the Pass Block movement should cease at the point of the turnover because there would not be any more legit Pass Block movement target squares. I guess that the responses to the Diving Tackle should still be resolved, so the ball would first bounce from the divers square, then possibly catches and bounces, then possibly the failing of the Pass Blockers dodge, possibly his armor/injuries and finally possible ball bounces, catches and bounces but not the Intercept roll. I guess.
Thank you for your answers. I hope this was a right place to ask these "weird" questions, which I may have some more. If not, please let me know so I do not disturb the peace in vain.

Re: leaving a square
uuni
Sequence of events
Activate player announcing Pass
attempt to dodge out of square (he has the ball)
Dodge roll
Opponent declares DT (which succeeds in this example)
both go down Turnover
Roll armor/injury on the passer as he failed a dodge
bounce ball
end turn
Pass black is not even CLOSE to being activated
PB is called after the thrower has completed his movement and figures out range & modifiers to throw
Player then PB changing the modifiers and possibly setting up for INT
Pass is a declared action and skill, pass is the act of throwing the ball

Re: leaving a square
I think he meant the following:
Sequence of events
In this sequence of events we have:
Team Blue:
(c) catcher,
(t) thrower with diving tackle,
Team Red:
(p) pass block player.
(c) .... (t) (p)
Activate player announcing Pass (t)
Designate Target. (c)
Activates the PassBlock player (p)
Player with pass block (p) is not in range for interception, as you can see he's behind the thrower. He's in a valid square but he wants to intercept.
(p) dodge away from the thrower to move in range to intercept.
Dodge roll
Thrower declares DT (which succeeds in this example)
Pass Blocker (p) goes down.
Roll armour/injury on the pass blocker as he failed a dodge
Thrower goes down (diving tackle)
He looses the ball immediately => Turnover
bounce ball.
Turn ends.
This would prevent the passing from happening.
If the red team had several pass blocker, could they still move the other pass blockers or the turn end prevents them

Re: leaving a square
a) why would the T use DT in this case, he knows it will result in a turnover? You do not have to use the skill
b) Turn over ends everything (but some weird stuff I can't remember
cards is one)

Re: leaving a square
That's the reason why I think this thread is just crunching rules for the sake of crunching rules. Technically it can happen now why you would want to do this is for some RARE situation.daloonieshaman wrote:a) why would the T use DT in this case, he knows it will result in a turnover? Maybe I got it wrong, and in this case you put it the right way, it's a no brainer.

Re: leaving a square
Uuni, This was/is a good thread. Nobody came up with the: "This is how we've always done it so it must be right." Perhaps because the issue was so rare.

Re: leaving a square
I suppose the answer is that "You can't stop passing by using another skill with the passer in the middle of the Passing sequence"

Re: leaving a square
I'm sorry, I don't understand your reply. Do you mean that you should not be able to use Diving Tackle or that the throw should proceed with the interception afterwards? Would you like to explain your reasoning further, perhaps with the rules also?Koigokoro wrote:I suppose the answer is that "You can't stop passing by using another skill with the passer in the middle of the Passing sequence"
