AG 5 and Leap. (k, not exactly a skill, but definitely potentially devastating)

And I think that Zombie's posting was the best so far in June.
Would easily get my vote for "comment of the month". Geeze, some guys must really detest Monty Python and stuff! This ain't a bibly study for inhibited oversensitives. We're talking Blood Bowl here, so a little degree of irony and sarcasm is to be expected. How else could you stand the flavour textes that came with the 2nd edition? C'mon!

nah you want to spread those out. as you've noticed that player himself is quite worthless once the play starts. having one guy with, say, block and kick, and the other with block and leader is way better imo.

my vote for best combo is horns/dauntless

I prefer to give one lineman leader and block, and another lineman kick and block. It keeps the leader alive longer.
hehehe i should have kept reading. :)

Okay, tell me, what is so different from the 2nd edition, that an "old player" could catch up in an hour or two?
big points:

regen works totally differently. you get one regen roll per injury, and you're fully healed. and you have to wait until a play stoppage to come back.

no skill levels. you either have mightyblow or you don't. no mightyblow3. no dodge 3 beats tackle 2 either. much better that way

play is for a specific # of turns, not to a specific score. much more efficient.

much fewer stars/much less useage.

most importantly: lots of stuff causes a turnover now that didn't before. falling down on a block causing a turnover is MAJOR...makes you prioritize and strategize.

those are the major ones that come to mind.

in all it's a very different game. i don't agree with zombie that it's so different your old experience is worthless, but it is very different.

Extra points to you for noticing this. As i've said in a poll that i made a few months ago to find out how long people had been playing the game, i'm a new guy compared to many others since i only started in 95 with third ed. All the knowledge i have of second ed or prior is from reading about it (though i've read so much about it over the years here and at BBC that i could tell you a lot about it). My comment that it's not even the same game is only a repeat of what people who have played both 2nd and 3rd ed have said. Of course, my own knowledge of 2nd ed isn't enough for me to go into details about why this should be the case. For example, i knew about the no turnover bit, but had forgotten about it.

Also extra points for you to have read the board for a while before starting to post.

Add to this the fact that you didn't go all feminine-side-and-oh-my-feelings-got-hurt, and you're already starting to be one of my favorite people on this board!

Welcome aboard.

But still, don't expect me to be nice (you know better ).

Cheers.

The points which wesleytj wrote, were all true, but I still do think they are quite minor details. As I said earlier, I never repeat my self  No, seriously, as I said earlier, the main idea of the game, the field, races, teams and even most actions are still quite alike. Ok, I stop now (if you let me :D)

And true, I know you better now, Zombie :)

Just great... I read Zombie's reply after breakfast, and then Dave's idea after lunch, and my perverted imagination made the rest. What are you preparing for the dinner?

I love animals of the bovine persuasion. Slow cooked with smoke is best but I'll eat them any way I can.

horns+block+dauntless+multiple block

My favorite Combo on beastman. Maybe add pro, but the last
Beastman with
horns+block+dauntless+multiple block and pro died turn 3 on 3rd foul in row on him (did not foul back-> 2 Players where sent off)
