Can a star player that played on team for the game get the MVP?

I can see both sides.

As far as I know, yes. At least that's what I've been told.

on a similar argument regarding raised players, what about Thrud, he pretty much always ends up playing for both teams. If he is eligible for both MVP's what happens if he gets them. According to the rules a player can only gain one mvp per match. If he is chosen for the mvp for both teams, is one of them re-chosen and if so which team would be eligible to benefit from this

thrudd....interesting point but i think a player is only allowed one mvp per team. if star players can get MVP's i'd say thrudd could get both.

From the rules:

"Sometimes a team will be awarded bonus Most Valuable
Player awards from the Handicap table, as described in
the ‘Pre-Match Sequence’ below. Award these in exactly
the same way as a normal Most Valuable Player award,
with the exception that no player may receive more than
one Most Valuable Player award per match."

Due to one of the results on the handicap table you can get an extra MVP, so I'm still uncertain what to do with Thrudd, maybe he can get both as this table only seems to refer to a 2nd MVP from a handicap roll. More than likely I reckon they didn't consider Thrud or raised players

I would have ruled no, as to me a Freebooter does not appear on the roster and that's where you select players for the MVP from.

Players raised from the dead join the team immediately and so could get the MVP. I think i've seen on a thread a few weeks ago that the player who died could get the MVP but it would not count as the same player as the new Zombie as he starts fresh on the new team.

Thrudd is on the roster of the team that purchased him. When he switches sides, you do not add him to the roster of the opposing team. They did not have him on their roster pre-game, and the roster does not get altered until after a match.

"The Most Valuable Player award is awarded
randomly to one player from each team, just so long as they were available to
play in the match."

if thrudd played for that team in the match ...he was on that team.

But Thrudd is not purchased until the freebooter phase at the start of the game, which is after the roster has been written up from last game.

So surely he's never actually added to the roster?

You always have to have an empty roster spot to freeboot. So your freebooters do apear on your roster for that one match.

Point taken but I don't take that as evidence that the freebooter appears on your roster for the game, just that you cannot use the rule to gain extra team depth, just as you can't freeboot a fifth Blitzer in a human team for example.

I imagine in PBeM of FUMBBL games they are added to the roster so the tool knows to include them in the game, however in FTF matches I would guess very few people write them onto their rosters at the start of the match and rub them off after. We still use the star player cards when one is hired.

whats being on the roster got to do with anything? as gken1 said previously the only rule is

"The Most Valuable Player award is awarded randomly to one player from each team, just so long as they were available to
play in the match."

so I think that pretty much covers star players. I guess with Thrud he still is officially a member of the team who hired him even if he is totally confused and plays for the wrong team all match.
