Multiple Block
The player is allowed to make a block at two or more opposing players at the same time. The opposing players must be next to the player making the block and next to each other. Their strengths are added together and both suffer the effects of the block equally. Both sides may use assists normally.
Couple of questions:
1) How "next to each other" do the target players have to be? Is diagonally OK? They are next to each other in the traditional BB sense, in that they are in each others TZ.
2) Multiple Block and assists. Can a player who is in the TZs of
both target players lend an assist for a multiple block? Since the targets count as one player for the purposes of the block, how can they cancel out an assist that is, technically, directly against themselves?
There is an ancient thread about #2 I found in a search, where Chet said it would be cleared up in a RR. This clearly hasn't happened, so I thought I would bring it up again.

tough ones for sure....
If you go with teh standard (and this will get me flamed out of existence), spirit of blood bowl, then I would say you can mb any two guys who are in each others tz's, as long as you are also in theirs. or more, don't write the number two in stone here.
as for assists, if I had to rule on it, I would go with the easy rule. the plyers receiving the multiple block count asa one, since they are all occupied with being pummeled by that treeman, and aren't paying much attention to the flings sneaking up behind them. assists for the blockee's follow the standard rules.

I hate to disagree with Ian (doubleskulls) but I've never heard anywhere that they needed to be "square". Next to each other means adjacent tackle zones in everything I've ever understood. This would mean the above multiple block is fine.
Galak
So based on this thread looks like blocking two players that are side by side or that are diagonally across from each other is fine.
Correct, the current "ruling" is that to assist a player must be in the TZ of one but not both of the opponents being blocked.
This will likely be made official in November.

And this quote from the same thread explains that you can not be in the tackle zone of both players being blocked and lend an assist.
Unless of course the person has guard

I still think this is going to be in the LRB 3.0 as just a text clean up from what I understand.

They have to be in adjacent squares - so diagonnally is okay.

No, only players in the TZ of one of the players can assist - unless they have Guard of course.

So what about a multiple block against 3 targets? How next to each other do they have to be? Will a straight line do, or do they have to describe a "corner"?
Code: Select all
Straight Line
.....
..X..
.ooo.
.....
Corner
.....
..Xo.
..oo.
.....
Where "X" is the player with Mulitiple Block, and "o" are the opposing players.

Multiple Block (Strength Skill)
The player is allowed to block two opposing players at the same
time. The opposing players must be next to the player making
the block and next to each other. Their strengths are added
together and both suffer the effects of the block equally. Both
sides may use assists normally.

see...my bad for not looking it up....only 2 per hit max...and I'm not going to contradict Galak...I've rarely seen him wrong on a rules issue...
So assist is only allowed if you occupy one opponents tz adn not both....assuming no guard of course...makes good enough sense to me
