Code: Select all

xxAxx

1CDE4
23F56
If you are the coach throwing the block, you can move B into either C, D, or E.

If B into C, then YOU (not the opponent) could then move C into 1, 2, or 3.
If B into D, then YOU could move D into 3 or 5.
If B into E, then YOU could move E into 4, 5, or 6.

Just a little extra clarification.

Double and Triple pushbacks if changed correctly can be very useful to pushing players out of bounds and knock a loose surrounded ball into a more open square.

That's why in my league we implemented the house rule that if there is no available square to be pushed into, he falls where he stands. It just didn't seem very realistic that a player five rows back could be affected on a push back. Not too mention it makes those multiple player scrums where the ball is lying on the ground much more interesting.

Thx for your extra clarification Galak.

I just had this discussion during my last match and we weren't sure who is to choose the squares for players c, d or e.

It's also very useful for moving one of your own players out of tacklezones and into a better scoring position when trapped in a ruck.

The canonical warcry to use when attempting to score using this method is "Linerat #6 in the corner pocket"

;)

Oh that was just too funny. Biggest surprise I pulled on an opponent once was to arrange a triple push back that knocked his ball carrier out of bounds when he thought he had an inpentrable defense. (its amazing what two of your lineman moved into just the right spots can do).

And Rudy ... double and triple pushbacks are one of the best advanced strategy elements of the game ... house ruling them away ... where's the fun in that.
