About Injury Time

The "Injury Time" kickoff event make the turn marker either advance or go back on turn depending of when the kickoff event is rolled. I played with a friend lately and rolled that event on a kickoff after I scored on my fifth turn. However, my friend was about to play his fifth one too but we hesitated a little about if we should make the turn marker advance or go back.
The obvious choice would be to get one turn back, as we're mostly engaged in the second part of the half, but we thought it could be considered another way :
The kickoff event happen before the opponent get to play, so we thought it might also happen before his turn, in which case he'd still be turn 4. Now if we get to consider the opponent's turn, it would mean the TM would go one turn further instead.
I have some doubt about the validity of the idea, but I'd like to have some confirmation
