Do you have to announce a pass at the start of a players move? Even before they've picked it up (if they do:)?

Yep. All actions should be declared before the player makes any move.

(As a side-note, some leagues/players will let you announce an action after the player starts a move, as long as no dice have been rolled, but that's a houserule).

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

if you're going to handle the ball and not going to make a blitz or foul action it's always best to nominate either a pass or hand off action just to give you the option to do either at the end.....you never have to do the action at the end so it's ok to announce either before picking up the ball or moving a player with the ball. Plus no other player on the team will be able to do the action as they won't have the ball if the player who picks it up or moves with it doesn't do one of the two actions.

This is the problem with practically all my experience being online, ski junkies great tool does it all for you :)

I got pulled up on this in a live game last week and it had never even occured to me that it would be an issue, of course I was going to pass, there just wasn't any point saying it before I've got the ball.

I can understand now why it's important though, for big guys who might fail a roll and not be able to carry on to throw a player but still using up the pass action.

Cheers,
Gary.
