hand-off question

Post by sympatico »

what happens if during my turn a bouncing ball is caught by a player on my team who has already moved and I want him to hand it off to a player that hasn´t moved who is standing next to him. Am I allowed to do so?

I believe not. If a player has already committed an action they cannot handoff.

doubt it. hand off is treated as a pass. as you've already used that player, you cant use another action. so no.

Most assuredly not. A player must activate and declare a hand off action to be able to hand the ball off now. (3rd ed did not have this rule.)

As you stated the player who caught the ball had already acted, you are unfortunatelty out of luck as he can not activate again this turn.

that´s what I thought, but man is it frustrating, especially if by handing it off you could have scored like happened to me :-?

I've seen people re-roll catching a bouncing ball because it was succesfully caught by a player which already moved... :)

There was a thread about those rerolls, and I doubt you can... (wasn't there something about only being allowed to reroll a *failed* roll)

that thread only states that you can't use the re-roll for the catch skill to re-roll a succesful catch, says nothing about team rerolls. I think it's legal to re-roll a succesfull roll with a team reroll. eg how do you determine whether a block is a succesfull one? Sometimes you want to just push the guy and leave him standing for example.

That also depends if catching a bouncing ball counts as an action of the player (which is a prerequisite for using a team reroll).
Which it probably is, as you can reroll catches after a pass, at least that is what the rules intend.

Good point. As catching is NOT an action. (Not listed as action, so is not an action). But you still can use a reroll.

So I guess Pro could be used too to re-roll a succesfull catch.
