FAME & Fan factor Questions [new rulebook Q's]

Post by mlindsay2706 »

ok so now the Pbbl is offical [yay!] ive started to properly read the rules, learn them and stuff rather than just skimming through last time. but theres one thing i just dont get - FAME / Fan factor now. a new league is starting soon-ish and i want to know how important FAME/FF is now before i make my league roster.

so how does FAME work, and what does it do? so far, all i can see is fame determines how much cash you get from a match - but how do you get FAME? and what determiens how much FAME your team has?

second, now FAME is in place, what does Fan factor do then? and what is Fan factor used for now?

cheers for all help guys.

Fan Factor essentially operates as a (FF x 1000)=# of your loyal fans. This number, plus the roll of two dice, is how many of your fans showed up to support your team. Compare your attendance to your opponents attendance (his FF + 2d6, mulitplied by 1000):

IF one of you has twice, or more, the attendance of the other, then that person has +2 FAME.

IF one of you has more attendance than the other, then that person has +1 FAME.

IF attendance is equal, or less than the other, then that person(s) has +0 FAME.

As important, is that FAME has a high impact on the Kick-Off table. Especially where a 1d3 is rolled, FAME can easily tilt the tables. My opponent, yesterday, had +1 FAME and I suffered two BH from Thrown Rocks! In past games I've scarfed two to three rerolls a game from Cheering Fans and Brilliant Coaching! Your mileage will vary according to what is rolled on the Kick-Off table, but FAME is handy to have....

As above, Gate comparison determines FAME.

ah ace.

so FF now determines how much FAME you have, and FAME determines how much cash you have + the d6 roll, and influences the kick off table.

got it and now re-reading the rules, makes sense.

that is brilliant, cheers!

I'm confused by this rule as well, one question I have, it looks like you can hav ezero fan factor now, where previously you had to buy at least one, is the right?

Not quite.

Vomit messed it up a little.

Fan Factor determines gate.

Roll (2d6 + FF) * 1000 = Gate Red.
Roll (2D6 + FF) * 1000 = Gate Blue.

Compare GATE. to determine Fan Advantage Modfier Effect.

FAME is either 0,+1, or +2 as described above.

Kick off results use FAME and winnings is also + FAME.

You may start with FF = 0. Which will get you a gate of between 2000 and 12000 fans which depending on your opponent's FF and roll (his gate).

For example it is possible for FF= 0 to get +1 FAME against FF 9.

a roll of 12+0 FF is greater than rolling 2 and adding 9 FF.... for example.

My personsal thoughts on FF is buy everything else you want, and then if you have money left over, get fF or asst coaches or cheerleaders. Nothing is less fufilling to me than sacrificing initial purchases to load up on FF, to lose the 1st couple matches and have it drop immeditately, or to win one finally, but not have it go up.

And you've set yourself to NEED the extra winnings as you have lots of things to purchase...

I think it is only your last line should read "Gate" not FF.

Should be "As above, Gate comparision determines FAME.

The way you worded it implies my FF 5 always gets +2 FAME over your FF 2. Which is not true.

no problem, that's why I said "a little bit" messed up.

I knew from reading your post, you knew what was going on, but anyone taking only the soundbite.. quote.. would have been mistaken.
