Claws on Snow Troll?

Post by dwarfrunner »

I am planning on making a Norse, since I was inspired by a post about some figs for Ulfs that I thought fit perfectly.

So, while doing my research and planning for this team, I read the skills for the troll and was surprised.

Am I reading it correctly, a modified roll of 8 automatically breaks armour for everyone. If you are weaker, does that rule still apply, I guess you can choose not to use your claws. But against dwarfs or chaos warriors that can do some serious damage, especially with mighty blow.

Anyways, sorry for rambling on there.

Yes you can elect not to use claw.

Yes av 9 and av 10 players who used to be "buff" cringe when claw+ mighty blow shows up. Yet I believe this has been statistically proven to be less nasty than the old claw+ razor sharp..

My opinion:
Troll slayers should eat Snow Troll meat for breakfast, and choas dwarves needed toned down anyway... And besides , the nearly rest of your norse team is all av 7 to thier mighty blow anyway.

I agree the original version was much more potent. Especially against average to below average AV teams. But now, its more dangerous against the higher AV teams. I like it alot. Now I just need to finish a Norse team so I can play.

Yes, the werewolves in our league will probably peel some dwarves or my Orcs (if they can knock them over). Claws = nasty against high AV teams

But now claws stack with Mighty blow for example.
So you'll break the armour if you roll a 7.

Yes, BUT even stacking claw and mighty blow compared to using claw on armor and razor sharp on injury, this is still less effective.

+3 to armor or +2 to armor with +1 to injury is still not at all as effective as +2 on armor and +2 to injury.

Ironically, I decided to play Wood elves in my league this time around. And a house rule we added was one player on your team gets a free regular skill available to that player.

Guess what the guy with the Norse team and an Icetroll on it picked...dum-da-da-da.....Mighty Blow. So he may be a problem for many people on various teams. We shall see.

Just thought it was a funny.

The chaos team in my league is a complete nightmare to play against. The coach build up almost every player with block/claw/mb.

It's not a really skilled team, but who needs to be skilled when at the end of the game VS ogres there's only 3 ogres out of 6 left and a few snots hiding behind them

This is mainly why I stay away from blocking skills with my wood elf team. I try and give them skills to help them get away, rather than survive a block.
