Apothecary roll

We had a gaming night afew days ago to start our new league, and were trying to figure out when the apothecary can be used. Does he heal the player when you roll the 2D6, or when you roll the D6+D8?

I interpreted the rules as he is used on the casualty table which is the D6+D8. Which makes the apothecary more of a healer and less of a miracle worker. Killing someone than the apothecary magically heals him back to perfect health. I mean come on, he should be a wizard then for his magic powers.

Is this a correct assumption?

it is a reroll on the D6 + D8 IIRC

That is correct.

However ... if the original roll or the re-roll of the D6 + D8 is Badly Hurt ... the player is fully healed and placed back in Reserves ... so he can fully heal Death. He's just not as awesome as LRB 4.0 where from the sidelines he could magically turn Death into Stunned.

Dead to Reserves is good enough :) I was playing a necro team the other week and I rolled a death on a werewolf who promptly passed his regen roll and went straight back into the reserves box!!

So, when you re-roll, if its just a "miss this game" roll he goes into the reserves. K, that makes sense. We were complaining that once you get a guy out of the game, he is gone no matter what the apoth does. But with that rule, it means they can still come back.

Perfect, thanks for everyones response. Death to proned? Now thats some powerful Orcade!!

Yeah, the 5.0 apoth got boosted a bit from PBBL. Used to be that you just took the better result (Best case scenario was still a BH) or took the result and used the 2nd apoth skill to just put him in reserves. Now, if the reroll results in a BH, the guy goes automatically to reserves. Almost as good as the 4.0 apoth, which I'll happily live with.

Not just the re-roll. If either roll is BH after you've used your Apoth he goes back into the reserves. Because he's been Apoth'ed (or at least that's how most of our group have read the rule)

Technically you don't have to re-roll the CAS roll if he is already BH. The Apothecary can be used to automatically move him back to Reserves.

The wording was simpler the way it was worded than to split it into two seperate pieces.
