Is the chainsaw to cheap!?!

I was just curious if any else feels the same way.
I am playing in a league and have played approx 8 games now. I am Wood elves and I actually have 11 players on my team, so of course my TV is VERY high. So all my opponents get inducements up the ying yang.
My thing is, everyone seems to be taking a SP with chainsaw b/c he is so cheap and with the revised chainsaw rules, more reliable than before.
I have seen chainsaws massacre entire teams in a single drive (against me and other people), and everyone on both sides of the massacre seems to feel the weapon is a little to good for its price.
Does anyone agree?

No, sorry
I find that chainsaw players are just as easy to deal with as before. Plus they tend to be such a distraction for your opponent to protect and use effectively that it opens up space for you to score.
Two woody catchers and a War Dancer are able to sack and score in two-three turns just by themselves--sure your opponent may succeed at chain-sawing your line-fodder, but you should be able to score and get him off the pitch quickly. Even if he has bribes, he now has to deal with the need to score rather than outright bash.

The problem is they always bring them on when they are receiving. So they make a cage around the ball carrier and let the chainsaw hack and slash my team. Admittedly, i am getting better at getting the ball loose. Once I get that perfected, I should be able to end drives quickly.

Just blitz the chainsaw guy whenever you get the chance. You get +3 to armor roll when you knock him down. He is going to tend to stay down.

Chainsaws are lethal I agree but only if you leave them to massacre your team. Hit them hard and fast as stated earlier and your opponent will regret using them!

Chainsaws can be lethal, but after a while people get used to them an they almost seem too
expensive IMO.

Either they cost a Blitz action per turn, or you will get a chance to to hit them. Also failure to break AV gives a chance to block them.

Yep, and once he's down mark him with a dispendable player. When he gets back up, smack him down again. If you do it right getting rid of a chainsaw just costs 1 blitz.

Agree with the others... in effect, as soon as he is blitzable, take the chainsaw from him and stuff it in his entrails....

Chainsaws are just fine. They're a double edged sword. Plus the better Chainsaw wielders are Max and Nobbla, who both have various drawbacks of their own. Later on Flint can also be very scary, but that's because he's a Block player in a team full of (body)Guarders.
If your foolish enough not to hit the chainsaw player on the first opportunity then you deserve to have it rip through a big section of your roster. I've seen that happen to a team, but right after it did every other coach made it their business to nail chainsaws ASAP.
There is that horrible Kickback problem, and there is only one Chainsaw wielder without Loner and he's a goblin without dodge that only skills up from MVPs.
Last of all, Chainsaws don't get a bonus to injury. Which is naturally a little odd, but balance-wise this means they're quite likely to stun.

I guess I was worried that if I didnt succeed in knocking hom over, he would get me next turn. being wood elves, its not real hard to get through my armour with a chainsaw. But I do see your point, I really should be attacking him fast and early to get him off the field. The the drive ends and he can't come back.
The worst is one game a coach got a chainsaw AND a bribe, so he got him for two drives. That was a little unpleasant. Luckily it wasnt against me. And that coach is the type to attack anyone within range and try to remove everyone off the field (even if he is already leading the game).

Bribes don't work if he's dead. And since only two Chainsaw players have the ability to still be adjacent to you on a Push result from a block ... definitely do NOT fear blocking them. I make it a top priority to knock down the Chainsaw player on any drive I see them ... and the hope they get injured or KO'd because then bribes are pretty ineffective.

So basically, what everyone is saying is as soon as the chainsaw is on the field, throw everything @ him, and get him off the field. I would have not necessarily thought that, but maybe thats why was getting destroyed.

Not necessarily everything ... (you'd still like to work on not allowing your opponent to score) ... but yeah ... the first blitz of your turn if you don't need to do insane stuff to pull it off should be a two dice hit or a one dice with the block skill against the Chainsaw guy.

I've had a chainsaw guy attack my troll in the first turn of a game, fail to put him down and get his chainsaw rammed somewhere rather unpleasant in my first turn injuring them and taking them out of the game

Chainsaws are fun!! (although the first time that I took one (against a halfling team) we were using LRB4 rules and the damn thing didn't start the whole of the first half!!)
