Mercenaries' skill

Hi, I have a doubt on mercenaries, probably due to my rotten english.
LRB5 states that:
"In addition you may choose to give a Mercenary ONE additional skill selected
from those available to a player of that position on a Normal roll,
at an additional cost of 50,000 gold pieces"
Should I read this as "ONLY ONE" skill, or may I buy as many normal skills as I wish, paying 50k each?
