My question: if i want to pass the ball and before i pick up the ball. Must i declare to my opponent what i want to do before i pick up the ball?

Certainly. Wild Animal anyone?DamianTheLost wrote:Does this mean that u can decide not to block after having moved a player and declared ablitz????
Yes (and other Big Guys as well).zephard wrote:With Vamps and Ogres, does one have to declare block? As in is "move" the standard undeclared action before the neg roll?
But don't you still have to declare who will receive the pass? If so, then there is almost no advatange in declaring a pass EVERY time someone moves with the ball. It often is a question of a different receiver, than to pass or not to pass.fen wrote:I pretty much declare a Pass or Hand Off action every time I move the player with the ball (or the player about to pick up the ball.)
That way I never have to worry about not having the chance to toss the ball if I want too. And if I happen to spot a decent window to pass/hand the ball to another player, I have the chance.
You only declare the target of the pass when you actually throw the ball. You can even measure to any and as many receivers as you like, any time during your Pass action.serge wrote:But don't you still have to declare who will receive the pass?
No, have a read through the passing rules again (LRB5 p.12) and you'll see that nowhere does it say you must declare the target at the start of the action. You choose the target after you've finished moving.serge wrote:But don't you still have to declare who will receive the pass?
It is perfectly acceptable to pre-measure the range to several players at any point during the throwing player's move before you declare the target of the pass.
