Kick-Off Rsult "Pitch Invasion"

Hi, just made a search but without any luck.

On Page 19 of the LRB5:
Pitch Invasion:
The first two sentences are making sence. But I don't get the last one.

If it's only a d6 + Fame a roll of 1 has no effect but so does an 2 and 3.

Or happens something else at 2 and 3?

You get me?

cheers?

The reason it says "A roll of 1 before adding FAME will always have no effect." is to cover the general everything fails on a 1 rule in BB while also covering unusual situations where a team has +6 or more FAME.

It takes multiple Fan Favourites to have that much FAME. So it's a rare situation, but it's covering it's own ass with that reminder text.
Fan Favourite (Extraordinary)
The fans love seeing this player on the pitch so much that even the opposing fans cheer for your team. For each player with Fan Favourite on the pitch your team receives an additional +1 FAME modifier (see page 18 ) for any Kick-Off table results, but not for the Winnings roll.

Ole, you roll a D6 for each player on the pitch, adding your FAME modifier to this number, if the result is 6+ then the player is stunned.

In most cases players will be knocked down on a 5+ (depending on your FAME modifier) although in extreme circumstances (when the gate difference is more than double) then they could go down on a 4+ Any other result will not affect any players.

Not totally correct. You can have much higher FAME due to things like Fan Favorite, Winning one of the big cups, etc. I think Galak once said that FAME could (theoretically) be as high as +10 or so. That's why the "fail on 1" clause is in the text.

Interesting, I'd forgotten about fan favourite etc as it so rarely occurs in our games.

Theoretically I think you can hit a maximum of 21 FAME with 16 Fan Favourites, +2 from the gate and a total of +3 from the cards A ♥: That Babe's Got Talent! and J ♦: Team Anthem.

Play the Spike Cup 16 times and manipulate the highest SPP player on your team to be the highest in the league and not already have the Fan Favourite skill. You'd need to rotate and protect your players like crazy and be exceptionally lucky. It would probably take a team with a low player turnover like Dwarfs or Orcs to manage it.
If the tournament organizer likes he may also choose to hand out the award for the Spike! Magazine Player of the Year after the final has been played! This award goes to the player in the league who has the most Star Player points. The player gains the skill Fan Favourite permanently unless he already has this skill for as long as the player is still on the team. Treat this as a skill taken on a Double for calculating the player's value. Note that the player does not have to be in one of the teams that took part in the final, or even the tournament, in order to receive the reward.
The odds of doing this are ridiculously slim, so that's why I said "theoretically". ;) Even our league which hands out the Fan Favourite skill at the end of every season only has 3 Fan Favourites in it after 5 seasons.

note: you don't have to play in the Spike! to get the Fan Favorite.just be tghe player with the most SPP's at the end of the season that the SPike is played.

I'm glad there is a Fen in the world to think about these sorts of things an research them :) Mainly so I don't have to, but also because it's interesting.

The Fan Favorite needs to be on the pitch so it's a theoretical max of +16 FAME I believe.

Still +2 FAME is bad enough, had 8 of 11 stunned in a pitch invasion once, when receiving against dwarves (as norse). Needless to say that didn't end well.

In our league, 10/11 happened twice. Still waiting for 11/11. 8)

Never been quite that bad for me, although in the last match I played I had the entire right side of my defence stunned including my snow troll who the zombies from the necro team I was playing immediately surrounded and started kicking. (3 turns and 3 fouls later he managed to get up as all the zombies kicking him had been sent off by the ref!!)
