How much should the +ST skill increase a players value by?
I thought it was just 30k but the Halfling scribe sheet I'm using adds 50k...

Don't know exactly what +ST skill is meant to be.
ST characteristic increase - 50K
strength skill that requires a normal roll - 20K
strength skill that requires a double roll - 30K

Sorry I mean +1 to Strength stat. I didn't realise it added so much value to a player!!!

+MV or +AV: 30k
+AG: 40k
All described in the LRB5.
And yes, a Halfing with a +ST means that the +ST costs more than the player itself. For a Snotling, it's a bit ridiculous.

Yes but ST increases to those two players are big.
ST 3 Halflings are great cage breakers.
ST 2 Snotlings means the player only gets hit with 2 dice hits instead of 3 and with Dodge and Side Step makes it even more difficult to pin down the best dodging players in the game.

The former is meaningful if you squint. The latter is not. Multiplying your value by 3.5 to decrease your chances of getting splattered is a horrible deal.
Frankly, I think 50k for +ST is too much. If +AG and +ST both went down by 10k, I think it'd be much better balanced. Or even a special rule that decreases their price to 20k/30k (for +AG/+ST) if it's used on a score of 1 and 30k/40k on a 2. That way, an 11 on a Saurus is actually an ok thing.

That was suggested early in the Vault process, but JJ nixed it because it was "to complicated".

I think that generally the +1 S is worth it.
I got it on a Blitzer, for my Orcs, and he's practically a Star Player (ok, maybe not that good, but he's definetly the best player on the roster).
Also got frenzy for him, so he can take out basically any non-big guy like that.
I'd definetly bump up my team value with 50k for this, better than most abilities.
If I'd gotten it a Line Orc I would also do it; A faster, more agile black orc (and allowing me 5 black orcs in one team) for +10k rating, compared to regular one.
Sure, you can argue that on a Goblin, Snotling or Halfling it's not worth it. The gold cost, oh my lord.
But you get a player that's average, not worst blocker ever. And yes, the value of the player goes, in comparishment, through the roof. But really, you mean that you're Halffling Team isn't gonna get inducements when playing anothe experienced team? I mean, do you fill your roster with 14 halfflings, a ton of reroll and a squad of cheerleaders and assistant coaches?
Even so, you might disagree. It's not worth it. But then, there's nothing that sais you must take the skill. I can choose Strong Arm for a Black Orc, but why would I? It would raise my team value and I'd gain nothing for it.
I wouldn't either take +1 AG on a Black Orc, as I would gain nothing from it really (he's just supose to be on the field beating people up, kinda like a halfling or snotling is supose to run around and...well, I'm not really sure...try and score? Yell insults?).

+ 1 ST isn't expensive, it's free! Seriously, I think 50k is fine, usually it will make a big difference to the player. I have a S3 skink and he's a great defender with MA 8, only need one extra assist to get a 2 dice block on a lot of players. If you really think it's not worth it you can always take the double skill instead, after all, you just rolled two 6's

Then don't take the +ST on the Snotling - take dauntless instead at only 30k

My Snow Troll got a ST+ increase and it made him a real powerhouse... 2D blocks against other big guys without an assist and 3D blocks on regular guys with 1 assist....
(Sadly it didn't stop him getting bumrushed and killed by Count Luthor von Dorkenburg and two skeletons)
