"Blitz" on Kickoff table

Post by Biggen79 »

Does this allow the defense team to catch the kickoff and pass it to one of their own players or can they only place a guy where it´s supposed to land and after the "free" turn try and catch it before it bounces?

The ball does not actually land until the Blitz-turn is over. You can only place one guy under the ball and hope to catch it, that's it.

The ball lands at the end of the free "Blitz" turn.

Thus they only get a chance to catch if a player is underneath the ball after they have finished their turn.

So no passing (or handing off after the catch.

Without the presence of a BB rulebook to hand.

Play the Blitz move then scatter the ball. Technically you complete the kick-off result then scatter the ball. This may be an exception.

Look at that timing, three posters saying the same thing with a minute between them.

I guess that answered your question...

In LRB5, you scatter the ball before rolling on the kick-off table, but it also states that you resolve the bounce/catch/touchback after the kick-off table result is completely resolved.
