Some friends of mine who just started playing blood bowl cant decide how many squares (right spelled?) a tree man uses? only 1 or 4 squares?

The template is a little big for only one square but not big enough till fill 4 squares so hopefully you can help us out here.

There's a FAQ about this at the back of the LRB.

Q: My big guy (Ogre, Minotaur, Troll, etc.) player's base is larger than the
square on the board (pitch). Does he take up more than one square for
the rules?
A: No, all players in the game from a Snotling to a Treeman only occupy
one square on the board (pitch).

Great question. I was wondering this myself.

Well to be fair the question comes up a lot (enough to be in the published FAQ!) because GW made its board too small for the players. And yes, I know THIS has come up a lot before as well, and you all know where I stand.
