Big guy questions.

taking a ogre team in our clubs next league , have a couple of questions that i hope more experianced players can help with.

1. do big guys drop the ball if they fail a bone head, really stupid or wild animal roll?

2. can you reroll a landing roll on a thrown team mate without the loner effects? (i realise that ogre teams dont suffer from this).

3. if you fail a wild animal roll can you still use guard?

4. also does anyone have any advice on skills for ogres and snotlings?, our league will be a bit mad with three ogre teams one halfling ,one human ,one skaven , one norse ,rest undecided ( hopefully three or four more teams)playing each other twice.

1) No, No, and No. All the skills make you lose actions, none mention dropping the ball.

2) Loner affects the player that has it. Which is to say, if the 'throwee' (the player being thrown) has loner it would effect attempts to reroll landing. The thrower having loner has no effect whatsoever on the landing roll. Pay careful attention here for journeymen snotlings.

3) Wild Animals who fail the roll only lose an action. They do not lose tackle zones or assists; therefore can still use guard. OTOH, Bonehead and Really Stupid do lose tackle zones and assists; therefore would lose guard.

4) Sorry, no advice really. Snotlings rarely last long anyway, so when they get a skill I say have fun with it. The variety might be surprisingly helpful.

All is as Daefaroth stated. I just want to add, that players who are Bonehead, Really Stupid, Wild Animaled, CAN still catch a ball. during games opponents seem to misunderstand that. Just tell them that Catching a ball is NOT an action and therefor aloowed when boneheaded.

As you have some dodge players on your team, I'd go for diving Tackle on the little ones and then something like sprint and sure feet to make them a little more mobile.

The Ogres usually get Guard, Break Tackle, Grab from me, or, if you look for damage, Piling On. But with that last one, don't expect to get many wins!

Hi Wolfie 81,
you're getting some shoddy advice here.
Draco - sounds like you owe some opponents a pint!

Quoting from the LRB 5 skill text for bonehead: "The player loses his tackle zones and may not catch, intercept or pass, assist another player on a block or foul, or voluntarily move..."

So, no catching (or guarding) while boneheaded or really stupid! Wild Animals are allowed to do all those things though - they just lose their action.

Cheers
Martin

Maybe also of note- If you are under the influence of a hypnotic gaze, you can't catch (this comes up for us very often with the vampire teams in our league.)

EDIT: typo!

Damn! I stand corrected. OK. To all those guys who lost against me whilst I played ogres, I owe you a drink!

(I guess that's just you Traveller! )

A bit stupid rule though if you ask me. If you are not able to do anything anymore, you might as well let them drop the ball when they go bonehead as well.

Why - when they're boneheaded they're to stupid to even open their hand, so the ball can't drop.

This would be better off in the skills and tactics section, along with using the search function for previous threads but I would mention Diving Tackle and Sure Feet for Snotlings.
