Catch ball on kick-off during blitz?

Hi guys,

during kick-off, if you roll a blitz, how do you handle the kicking side catching the ball in their opponents half?

Eg, you kick to your opponent, ball scatters 1d6, and ends up near enough to the LOS but in your opponents half.

Kick-off table result is a blitz. Can you then run through and:

1: pick-up the ball?

2: Or is the ball still in the air, so you can run a guy through, and stand on the same square, but the catch attempt won't happen until after the blitz turn is over?

I think it's 2, but not sure.

Oh, and if it's 2, you're not allowed use a team re-roll on the catch, right ,because it's neither in your turn, or during the blitz action?

This hasn't caused any arguments or anything, we're just not sure how it works :)

And while you cannot use re-rolls. You can use Diving Catch, Pro or Catch. (Slann Catchers are murder on blitzes)

A purely editorial suggestion for LRB 6 proof reading:

- Move the phrase: "[however,] players may use the Catch or Pro skill to try to re-roll the catch roll" from page 18 (The Kick-Off Table) to the Catch and Pro skill descriptions.

Second editorial suggestion:

- Change the title of page 18 from "The Kick-Off Table" to "The Kick-Off Sequence".

All the best

Thanks Galak.

I gave an unlucky friend of mine's Chaos Pact a 5-0 hammering with my Vamps. I got two blitzs and thanks to the kick skill, the ball was nearby. A blitz/hypnogaze later, and I had a cage in his half both times. With his big guys tied up with disposable thralls.

Sometimes nuffle really does give you a good kicking in this game :)
