High Kick and Diving Catch Question

Post by Aliboon »

Hello, a situation just came up where I got high kick on the kick-off table, but a couple of my players could also Diving Catch it.

I assumed that I should resolve the kick off (so moved a player to underneath the ball, although I wouldn't have had to do this if I didn't want to I suppose) and then try to catch the ball. If I had have failed to catch it then, then I assume that if the Diving Catchers were still next to the ball, then I couldn't use the skill as it was a bouncing ball and DC would therefore not work.

Also, slightly related-the skill descriptipn of Diving Tackle says that
"If there are two or more players attempting to use this skill then they get in each other’s way and neither can use it."
Now, as skill use is voluntary, I take it if I had two players that could DC a ball and I chose for one of them not to use their skill, then the other one could. This bit of the description describes the situation if two players from opposite teams try to use DC to catch the same ball?

Cheers.

If you have a player under the ball, and a DC next to them the DC cannot try to catch the ball as the skill only works in empty squares.

You are correct about two of your own DCs being able to catch - its really to stop the weirdness should opposing DCs

Thanks. The question was more should I resolve the kick-off first by moving a player to under the kick, rather than do the Diving Catch, then move the player to under the kick, which may or may not be there, depending on whether the DC was sucessful or not (which thinking about it, doesn't really make sense, so I suppose I've answered my own question!).

The ball does not land until AFTER the kick-off result if resolved.

Once the kick-off result is resolved. Only one player may attempt to catch the ball and if this fails it bounces from that player.
