Suppose that during a game of Skaven vs. the Undead a Linerat dies and gets resurrected as a Zombie by the Undead opposition, promptly moving into the Undead side's reserves box and being fielded on the line in the next drive, just to rub it in.. Now, after the game, the MVPs get awarded and the MVP for the Sakven team is awarded to the Linerat who statrted the game on the Skaven team and finished it on the Undead team..
Do the Undead end up with two MVPs and the Skaven get none, is the MVP lost, do the Skaven get another roll and nominate another player?

The Skaven MVP is lost just as it would if the player died and was not turned into a zombie.

The zombie gets the one from the undead team, so ends up with 5 SPPs. One thing I'd want to check, but I don't have the rulebook handy, is whether only players on the team at the start of the match are eligable. If not you'd just roll again.

I would assume that since added players such as stars and mercs (who come after the start of the match) can get the MVP, then it only stands to reason that the players on the team roster at the end of the match like a zombie added during the game would be able to get the MVP.

If you follow the post game procedure, the Linerat is "in two places at once". You roll for MVP's. The Linerat gets it, but he is dead so the Skaven team loses their MVP. The Undead team rolls for MVP, however, the New Zombie is NOT on the roster yet so he can't get the MVP. He isn't added to the Undead roster until step 2.5 of the post game sequence, therefore he can't get the MVP for the Undead team.

So, yes, the Skaven in this case lose their MVP.



For reference look at page 17 in the third paragraph under Apothecary, the second to last sentence:

"During Step 5 of Updating Your Team Roster (see page 29), you may add this player to your roster for free if you have less than 16 players on the team."

The Zombie isn't on the roster until well after the MVP rolls have been made.

Also the Dead Linerat isn't removed from the Skaven roster until after the MVP rolls.

Make sense?

It also depends on if you are playing with the optional rules in the rulebook. If you are playing option #2, you can reroll the MVP... but that should be nominated before the match.

I never realized that the Zombie is available imediately ifen though he is not yet part of the team, i.e. not on the roster - I always thought that I had to have a free slot on the roster to even raise a zombie in the first place..
