Fouling and GFI LRB5

ok was chatting with some other players earlier and the following came up:

from the gfi rules:
When a player takes any Action apart from a Block, they may try
to move one or two extra squares over and above the number
that they are normally allowed to move – this is called ‘going for
it’ or GFI. NOTE: if a rule refers to a player’s ‘normal movement’
do not include the one to two GFI squares.
from fouling rules:
Normally, players that are Prone or Stunned cannot be attacked.
However, when you use this rule, one player per turn is allowed
to take a Foul Action. This allows the player to move a number of
squares equal to his MA and then make a foul against an
opposing player who is Prone or Stunned and in an adjacent
square.
does that NOTE from the gfi rules mean you can't gfi to foul? I believe you always used to be able to? though that looks to me as though you can't any more

if not, what does that note apply to, or if so what other things does it apply to?

The wording should be exactly the same as LRB4. You can GFI once or twice and foul (no extra MA needed).

interesting that NOTE is there on gfi though

this applies for shadowing?

can't think of anything else that needs it

those skills don't use the players normal movement as that NOTE suggests

the only places it is mentioned in the rules other than there is on frenzy and ball and chain, both of which mention gfi handling in their descriptions

One thing I had the other day is when moving before fouling, do you have to use a square of movement for the foul like a blitz? If you have a MA6 player who moves 6 squares to be next to a prone player to foul him, do you have a GFI roll for the foul?

I had assumed you did, but it doesn't seem to be what the rules say and I think Ian's earlier note would agree that you just have to get to the square adjacent with your movement?

the square cost has always only ever been for blitzes

never had to do that for fouls

That is still the case.

Not looking at the rulebook ... if memory serves me correctly ... the Normal Movements wording was added to the rulebook to cover that terms being used with Frenzy and Ball & Chain.

It shows how often I normally foul. For some reason I seem to be the person who always gets his player sent off.

Grum / Galak, thanks for the clarification will be useful next time it comes up.
