Blitz+Interception VS Dump Off

Hi everyone!!

We're having a discussion about the following in bloodbowlforo.org.

I have a Thrower with Dump Off who's attacked by a blitzer during a Blitz.

When can that Blitzer roll for Interception?

I think that the blitzer can only try to intercept if he is under all the conditions for interception when declaring the Blitz, I mean.

1.- I declare Blitz (thus, I'm declaring a Movement Action and a Blitz Action on the Thrower).
2.- Because I've declared a Block on the Thrower, the Thrower uses Dump Off.
3.- If the blitzer is under the rule, has tackle zone, and is between the Thrower and the target, he can try the interception.
4.- The Blitzer can then move and Block after the intercepcion is resolved.

People tell me I'm wrong beacuse they say that when declaring a Blitz you're only declaring a movement, nothing else, and then, when you want to, you can declare a Block, or not declare it because you rethink the strategy, though you spend the Blitz action.

So they say that the Blitzer can move so he gets into a correct position to try to intercept the ball, and then, when you declare the block, dump off can be used, and things happen like this :

1.- Player1 (P1) Declares Blitz
2.- P1 moves the Blitzer so he gets to a square suitable for interception.
3.- P3 declares the block on the Thrower.
4.- Player2 (P2) declares he's using Dump Off
5.- P1's Blitzer suffers a -1 due to the Thrower's Tackle Zone (along the Interception or other modifiers)
6.- P2's Throwers suffers a -1 due to the Blitzer's Tackle Zone, and +1 due to Quick Pass.
7.- Interception is resolved, and then, the Block is rolled.

Thanks a lot!!!!!!

You declare the blitz

run up to the thrower and state you are blocking him

he uses dump off and does the pass

you roll for interception for the blitzer

you then hit the thrower after the pass is resolved, either from an interception, fumble and scatters or completion etc

If the blitzer intercepts it he can't move away and blitz someone else, he has to hit the thrower, you can still move as normal after the hit if you have movement left like any other blitz though

Grum has it.

Interesting side question: In LRB6 (where Pass Block can be used against Dump Off), can the Blitzer himself use Pass Block? If he does so, and ends his Pass Block move (which is "free") still standing next to the Dumpster, can he then block him (the block could potentially be made from a more interesting direction)?

Interesting.....very interesting.

I guess the point of this would be in no moving more than the number of squares you can move in your turn.

Anyway, this means that the Blitzer gets in touch with the thrower, the thower uses dump off, and then, the blitzer dodges away moving up to three squares (one away, onw square and one more to get in touch, or one away and one in).....bufff, too risky for me.

Actually, reading Pass Block, it seems clear that you can move 3 additional squares because it says : This move is made out of sequence, after the range has
been measured, but before any interception attempts have been made

Question already answered in LRB 5.0 (and the same FAQ appears in LRB 6.0 as well)

From the FAQ page:
Q: If you blitz or block an opponent with Dump-Off with a player that has Pass Block can you use Pass Block to move after he declares his use of Dump-Off?
A: No, once a block is declared as part of a Block or Blitz Action, you must attempt to complete it before moving again.

I up this topic with an even stranger question:

- the DumpOff ball carrier gets blitzed. the block is one die
- the DO ball carrier declares the dump off
- a PassBlock third player moves in a legal position, putting the DO player in his TZ

after the DO procedure, the block is still one die or becomes two dice?

Two dice he now has an assist, should consider that before dumping off...
