Roster maximum players

I recently had 15 good players and 1 MNG on my Halfling team, so I hired 1 Halfling.

This wasn't a merc. I feel the advantage of the merc is this is pre-game where the hire of a player is post-game. Was this an illegal move? It is not crystal clear.

you are only allowed 16 players

MNG don't count for hiring stars or mercs, but afaik you shouldn't have been able to hire another player

Page 22 of the C.R.A.P. states clearly that players missing a game due to injury do NOT count towards the number of players on the team.
As long as you don't have 16 fieldable players you can hire extra's.

Page 22? Can't find anything of the sort on either the pdf's page 22 (starts with 'How to Earn Star Player Points') or the actual numbering 22 (Interceptions and Fumbles).

Checked it again and it's still page 22 (of 27) (or page number 69 in the document) of the C.R.A.P. I downloaded.
If you look for inducements descriptions - unlimited mercenaries you should be able to find the relevant section.

Oh, you still have the 'old' rules. GW put up new ones with single page per sheet, that threw me off.

Yes, it does say that on mercenaries. There are a couple of sections that have things to say too, but I already discussed those with funnyfingers already, so I too am listening on what others have to say first.

Yes that is in reference to hiring mercenaries, not buying more players.

Wish people would stop calling it the c.r.a.p. as well, way to make us look childish

A permanent hire is not allowed, but a pre-game inducement merc is fine.

Oh well I am the commissioner so no penalty, game stands!

BTW it was a 4 to 0 victory against Ogres:) Very lucky game, my 4AG halfling even surfed an Ogre with -3 dice!
