Had a weird thing happen last ngiht, my skaven ran towards the touchdown zone on the flank right at the pitch edge, i did a 1 square go for it to get the fnial square into the touch zone and he failed it... typical.

Anyway, the ball bounced diagionally out of the pitch, I assumed since it went diagionally out i use the sideline for the throw in template.

as this correct?

(Pic shows what I mean, blue is square player went down in, green is endzone)

there is no clear way of doing this

I've always used 1-2 along one side of the pitch, 3-4 diagonally out from the corner and 5-6 along the other side of the pitch

it may bounce out again but then you can just throw it back in as normal

but whatever works for your league, as long as you agree before you roll the dice it shouldn't be a problem

there's some people here that thinks that this is really a major issue that has to be ruled clearly to have a better gaming experience...

most of them thinks also that intercept must be rolled after the throw, and that 4th edition was better under avery aspect, anyway.

This situation is not (and has never been) covered in the rulebook, but should not present undue problems to a pair of opponents with common sense. Grum's solution is a common and sensible one, and has the merit of being quick to resolve.

funny thing about that is if you look at the template from a "flat" side line it would have the exact same effect (put the template with the 3/4 point "angle" out

The obvious argument solver is to roll for which sideline the scatter template is placed parallel to. Not 100% certain about whether this biases the diagonal throw in or not, compared to the placing the template diagonally...can't be arsed working out all the probabilities. Something tells me the diagonal would be biased, but in my experience statistics don't work the way common sense sas they should.

There is no clear ruling, but two obvious ways to resolve the issue.

1) roll a D6. 1-2 is down the endzone, 3-4 diagonally out from the corner, 5-6 down the sideline.

2) roll a D6 to determine which sideline the ball counts as crossing, then use the throw-in template as normal.

I prefer 1) since it uses one roll instead of two.

Also in favour of (1) is that the ball will end up going in one of those directions eventually, and a lot of potential "this way, no this way, no THIS way" is avoided.
