Diving Catch and Accurate Passes

Hi,

i haven't found the question via search, so here it is:
A catcher has Diving Catch and the thrower is passing the ball. But let's say, if the thrower passes exactly to the square the catcher occupies, then someone can intercept or it is one square to far away. So the thrower decides to throw a pass at the square neighboring the catcher's square. It happens, what must happen: The pass is accurate!
Can the catcher catch the ball as after an accurate pass, when he uses Diving Catch?

"...as if it had landed in his own square without leaving his current square..."
So i would say: Yes he can!

Another question: Is that intended? :D

Greetz,
gan

Yes, though you don't get the new +1 bonus to catch it from diving catch

... as it was not targeted to you

gandresch - Diving Catch has some interesting uses in practical play, although these might not occur in every game. For example:

- Avoiding an intercept by changing the target square.

- Extending the thrower's range by one square (e.g. Quick Pass for 4 squares, Long Bomb for 14 squares).

- Reducing the chance of a fumble (by extending the pass range, as above).

Hope that helps!

Does the passing player also get 1SPP for a completion?

Is an an accurate pass? (y)

Did a member of your team catch it? (y)

was it caught in the targeted square? (y)

so with diving catch you can...
target an empty TZ square (must be accurate), have it caught by one of your guys, with DC, and it is a completion and you get 1 spp

I must warn you that some people will read the run-on sentence differently. (Talk to your league commissioner or tournament organizer)

Sorry the answer to this one is No. The ball is caught as if in the square of the Diving Catch player (says that in the skill description) which means it is not caught in the targeted square ... which means no SPPs for throwing accurate passes to squares next to a DC player.

From the skill:
as if it had landed in his own square

Sigh ... you saying "I must warn you that some people will read the run-on sentence differently." does not include the guy who wrote the sentence (IMO).

Seriously ... I know you get great joy and massive pleasure from telling me I'm wrong on rules ... but this one you have no ground to stand on for your position.

Or even the ground to answer the question as if it had landed in your square.

However, I'm with Galak on this one.
