Ok wasn't sure where to post this but this should serve the purpose.

As you know when an ogre blitzes you are supposed to declare blitz before making the Bonehead role, therefore if the bonehead role fails you lose your Blitz.

In the recent Spiky Tourney i played against a couple of Ogre Big Guys and in both cases the players at least twice in each game made their bonehead role then after succeeding proceeded to blitz. this of course left me biting my tongue as i didn't want to jump in and say you cant do that as you didn't declare your blitz before making the bonehead roll, therefore appearing a bad sport, but in reality it gave them a big advantage, as during the course of the game the Ogre had failed his boinehead role a couple of times in positions where he would have liked to blitz with him, thereby not losing his blitz.

What i'm trying to say is what would the rest of you done in these circumsatnces let it ride or point out that you cant do that

I'd let it go once. If they do it again then you politely explain the rule is you declare first, then point out there is an advantage gained by not declaring the action first.

If the opponent is in any way sporting they'll apologise and continue correctly. If they're a cheating hound then they'll argue, you call the ref over and give them a fat zero for sportsmanship.

It is not unsporting to ensure your opponent is playing by the rules.

Pretty much the way I did it....
Explained the rule the first time and let it go. It's almost an unwritten rule at tournies to help get the correct rules across. Like Dutch guys rolling gfis before 'taking' the square for example.

Yer that happened to me as well Mcdeth, I also had to explain the change to the hand off as well, didn't have a problem form my opponenet either time.

No doubt about that.... trying to explain the rules is the way to go...If it was me who keep doing something wrong I would prefer the other player to tell me it - even if not so politely... than everything else.... If I keep forgeting it (as years of bad habits could led to) I guess the only solution would be making a rule like: if a coach forgets to declare a action before the bh roll he shouldn't be allowed "one in a turn" actions - like blitz or pass....

Actually, just a week before the tournament, Bem explained me that a blockresult isn't automatically a push back

We only played for a year and a half like that!

Came across somebody at Spiky who was playing the same way!

Actually, I think I discover a clarification once a week.
They used to be more shocking in the past, but I (don't we all) discover a small loophole/unclarity/unseen rule on a regular basis.
My last discovery (which I can remember) was that jumping up and blocking wasn't a blitz

Blitzing and boneheaded was a rule I already new woohoo. Because of the amount of Ogres in our competition, I'm sure I always see them walking after they clarified what they want to do with (and rolling the dice of course) In the past, I saw players dodge first and declare blitz after they saw the dude make a succesfull dodge.....Which is pretty important if the player has SF.....

Case in point: I'm playing Steve in round 4 of the Spiky. I foul and get caught, go to argue the ref. Steve informs me you can no longer argue the call.

I'm pretty sure you can so politely ask if I can check cos it's news to me.

He was cool about it, turns out they just moved the rule to somewhere else.

The game's got a lot of rules, even Veterans miss some of the clarifications so it's always right to clarify a rule with an opponent. If they keep doing it then you have to wonder.
