Concession 2 MVPs single player?

Post by funnyfingers »

If MVPs are awarded randomly, can a single player receive 2 MVPs when there is a concession?

If MVPs is spelled out in the following rules snippet then it would mean that there would be 2 most valuable players, but obviously that may not be the intention here.

Rules:
IMPORTANT: A team that concedes a match must give its
MVP to the opposing team (i.e., the winning coach gets two
MVPs and the losing coach gets none).

yes select 2 MVP's for the winning team. Some pick their own player, we randomly roll a d16. It would be the commissioner's decision that you can assign them to the same player

I read it as the MVP can both go to the same player :)

and that is why it is/should be a commissioner's decision as others do not make that leap of faith

Strictly as a "letter of the rules" question, I would say that a player may get 2 MVPs from a conceded game. There is nothing anywhere in the rules to suggest otherwise, as far as I am aware.

But also, looked at as a "spirit of the rules" issue, the winner is supposed to gain significant advantage from a conceded game. So the spirit of the rules surely also argues in favour of 2 MVPs on the same player, in the rare instance that this happens.

Curious how most people choose their players for MVP. For instance there were 16 cards to pick from at one time. When there is a concession would you normally put the already drawn number back into the bag or would you just draw two from the bag?

hmm
Based on random draw/roll
if you rule only 1 MVP per player then take it out
otherwise put it back in

This one, I can't see how people can read it the other way.
I can understand how people would think from the wording that the player would get both MVPs automatically, but if you're doing them randomly, I can't see any thing in the rules to give justification for the view that if a player get's the first, they're ineligible for the 2nd.

We don't draw numbers from a bag, we roll dice for the MVP.

I think that might have been the Death Zone box, not the Blood Bowl box (which is the only box still in production, and which is what most coaches will have).

All the best.

If you cannot stall out for an 8 turn drive to score with dwarves then you need to go and play canasta with your dad..if you can find him.
