Hi
Can you use Diving Catch to catch a fumbled pass?
The skill description says: "the player can attempt to catch any pass.., but not bouncing ball,..". So, does the ball bounce when a pass has been fumbled?

I doubt it.
For one, a fumble isn't really a pass, it's a fumble.
The rulebook states that a fumble ends the moving teams turn immediately, which suggests you can't activate another player and use a skill. If the ball is fumbled and scatters into the diving catch players square, that's a bit different (although I think it's still a turnover, even if your player catches the ball - I could be wrong on that though

)

You don't activate a player to use diving catch, it allows him to catch a ball that lands in his tackle zone as if it had landed in his own square, even if it is the opponents turn.

Quoted from the rulebook (p22) - available for download, BTW
The ball will bounce once from the thrower’s square, and the moving team will suffer a turnover and their turn ends immediately.

Fair enough.
However, you could also argue that a fumbled pass drops at the throwers feet, then bounces to an adjacent square. Then as per the skill description it can't be used.

Fair, as was said, enough

the ball can leave (alone) a square for two reasons only: either is thrown, or it bounce.
diving catch may be used only in the first case.

Third reason: Handoff

I guess it's hand-off, pass, bounce or scatter (inaccurate pass, kick-off and throw-in)
But just to clarify: On a fumble the ball bounces, so DC can not be applied.

not so fast my boys ....
Turnover #6 pg7
A pass attempt is fumbled even if a player from that team catches the fumbled ball
Hmm sounds like a failed pass to me
DC pg44
the player can attempt to catch any pass
either way you have the ball and it is still a turnover

Daloonie, you're leaving out important bits from Diving Catch.
pg. 44 on DC
the player can attempt to catch any pass, kick off or crowd throw-in, but not bouncing ball, that would land...
The ball bounces from a fumbled pass and DC does not work on bouncing balls.

Third reason: Handoff

in an handoff the ball does not leave the square "alone", but in the hands of the handoffer (hander off? offhander?), to be placed directly in catcher's hands.
if the latter fails the catch, the ball bounces from his square, and never from the passer's.

Well, I didn't mean to say it changes your point. I mearly added it for completeness of the list of ways a ball may leave a square. Even if it is placed directly in the catchers hands and then bounces from there if he fails the catch, it does leave the handoffers (is that a word?) square first.

I don't think so, but since I'm not english I can invent any word I want...
